Fifth Green AustralianCattle Dogs - Mother & Son

My name is Shannon Bozzuto Chant and my husband, Mark and our family reside in beautiful eastern Suffolk County on Long Island. Fifth Green is a small, young "kennel" that considers itself to be composed of show dogs that occasionally breed as opposed to breeders that occasionally show.  I say "kennel" because while we have dogs and we do breed after long consideration, our cattlekids are house pets with the hair on my carpet to prove it. Yes, they have their own crates, couch and room even, they also have their own spots in front of the television in our family room which is where they prefer to be majority of the time. We keep our kennel small just for that reason.

I am a former Veterinary Technician who worked in large emergency and specialty clinics servicing anything from neurology to physical therapy for a number of years.  Then having 3 kids under the age of 4 changed things!  After a life-long exposure to horses which included showing in western pleasure, showmanship, halter, and English pleasure, I met a trainer/farrier who had a Cattle Dog named "Hooey".  It was love at first site and I have been hooked on them ever since.

Mark is a Golf Course Superintendent -hence the name Fifth Green-at a private course here in Long Island.  If you observe the photos on the backgrounds, you will see the beautiful golf course that Mark oversees, fully equipped with geese to keep the dogs busy and therefore, the golfers happy.  Though Mark loves his cattlekids, his true love is his Labrador Retriever.  He is just along for the ride with the "show stuff".

When we do breed, we have all health clearances (PennHIP, OFA, BAER, PRA) reviewed as well as temperaments taken into mind. These dogs are strong, stubborn, tireless, comical and too darn smart. They are not the dog for just anyone so PLEASE do your research. They need to be given a job. Whether you have the chance to nurture their herding instinct or your interest lies in obedience, they are not couch potatoes and will turn your life upside down unless their energy is channeled appropriately. With that said, take a look around and we hope you enjoy our dogs as much as we do.
